Birmingham Healthy Minds
Birmingham Healthy Minds is an NHS primary care psychological therapies service that works closely with Birmingham GPs. BHM offers advice, information and brief psychological talking therapies for people aged 16 and over, who are often feeling anxious, low in mood or depressed.

Birmingham Mind is the largest independent mental health charity providing services in and beyond the City of Birmingham’s boundaries.
Op Courage
The Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Service is available to all ex-Forces personnel, those transitioning to civilian life (including reservists), and veterans living in Birmingham and the wider Midlands region. The service offers free NHS mental health support, and veterans can self-refer or be referred by a professional.

Pause Walk-in Centre
Pause is a city centre drop-in service for anyone under 25 who wants to talk about their mental health or wellbeing. Run by The Children’s Society in partnership with Forward Thinking Birmingham, Pause offers a relaxed, welcoming space where you can simply walk in, no appointment needed, for a chat, advice, and support.
Trained staff can help with any mental health or emotional concern, big or small. Whether you’re struggling, feeling low, or just need someone to listen, Pause is here for you.

Clear Fear App
For 11 to 19-year-olds
Clear Fear, developed by stem4 and Consultant Clinical Psychologist Dr. Nihara Krause with input from young people, is a free app designed to help children and young people manage symptoms of anxiety. The app uses a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) framework to support users in changing anxious thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and to calm fear responses.
Features include:
- practical strategies to manage anxiety
- helpful descriptions of how anxiety can appear
- resource links
- a ‘grit box’ to build resilience.
The app is free to use and suitable for anyone aged 11 and over.

Calm Harm
Calm Harm is an award-winning app developed by the teenage mental health charity stem4, designed by Consultant Clinical Psychologist Dr. Nihara Krause. It uses the principles of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to help young people manage and resist the urge to self-harm.
The app offers a range of tasks and strategies to support users in finding alternatives to self-harm.
It can be personalised and made private with a password, allowing users to track their progress over time and notice positive changes.
